Multi-award-winning pioneers of the ARTEMIS Mobile Phone Detection & Location System (MPDLS), Smith Myers Communications Ltd, were proud to sponsor and present the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Global Search and Rescue Excellence Awards 2025.
Held at the iconic One Great George Street in Westminster – the historic headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) – the ceremony brought together search and rescue (SAR) professionals from across the globe, honouring excellence in innovation, dedication, and service.
“We were proud to sponsor and present this prestigious award in such apposite surroundings. We have kept engineering at the heart of our business for 38 years,” said Peter Myers, Co-Founder of Smith Myers.
The event celebrated the achievements of SAR practitioners who have made significant contributions to the advancement of life-saving technologies, operational tactics, and global cooperation.
“Staying closely involved with this community is one of our core tenets,” added Andrew Munro, Managing Director at Smith Myers. “Only by listening to the experiences and needs of SAR professionals can we continue to evolve ARTEMIS MPDLS to meet the fast-changing operational challenges they face every day.”
The ARTEMIS MPDLS has become a mission-critical tool for SAR teams worldwide, enabling the detection, identification, and location of mobile phones of persons in distress and disaster zones, supporting life-saving operations in some of the most challenging environments.
Smith Myers is also pleased to confirm that the company is already committed to sponsoring the 2026 Global Search and Rescue Excellence Awards, further strengthening its support for the international SAR community.
