Setting the Fire Standard: Community Risk Programme latest

I was pleased to see the recent publication of the new three-year NFCC Strategy. It confirmed the importance of risk management planning as the foundation for delivering services to our communities to keep them safe. I am the Programme Executive for the NFCC’s Community Risk Programme and through our work we will be able to meet the NFCC’s strategic commitment to reduce community risk and vulnerability.

In the November 2019 issue of FIRE, I wrote about research that we commissioned from Nottingham Trent University. The research looked at how fire and rescue services carry out risk management planning. It was a significant piece of work for the NFCC because it helped us understand what we do now, identify good practice and any gaps as well as provide helpful suggestions for the future direction of risk management planning.
