The Fire Fighters Charity will be this year’s Chosen Charity for the Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards.
The awards evening, which is hosted by Fire Knowledge – publisher of FIRE magazine – honours individuals across the fire sector who have gone above and beyond the call of duty over the last 12 months.
Fire service personnel have faced huge challenges throughout 2022, coming together in response to the war in Ukraine, fighting wildfires across the UK this summer and continuing their tireless work to keep their communities safe.
Now the annual awards ceremony – which will take place on 9 December at One Great George Street in London – will celebrate all of their achievements, with 125 nominees up for awards.
There will be opportunities to donate to The Fire Fighters Charity throughout the night, as this year’s Chosen Charity.
The Charity supports all serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, their dependants and other eligible members of the UK fire services community, throughout their lives, helping them to live happier and healthier.
Ruth Powell, Director of Fundraising and Engagement at The Fire Fighters Charity, says: “We’re delighted to have been chosen as this year’s Chosen Charity for the Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards.
“Our fire family has once again faced huge pressures over the last 12 months and we as a charity have been there for them, whatever challenges have come their way. But none of that would be possible without support from events like this. On behalf of everyone at The Fire Fighters Charity, a huge thank you to all those behind this fantastic awards night for continuing to support us.”
FIRE Editor and Publisher, Andrew Ledgerton-Lynch, says: “This year, more than ever, we need to celebrate the exceptional contribution of personnel under the most trying circumstances. It is humbling to introduce these awards each year and I’m delighted I get to spare the time with our wonderful nominees. The standard of entries this year has been exceptional yet again.”
