The Fire Fighters Charity launches 20th Anniversary Lottery Draw

The Fire Fighters Charity is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of its Fire Fighters Lottery by adding 20 extra prizes to its November Draw.

Anyone who enters will now be in with the chance of winning the Jackpot of £25,000; a prize of £1,000*; one of twenty £100 cash prizes or thirty further cash prizes of £50.

The Lottery has raised over £20 million for The Fire Fighters Charity since its launch in 2003, which has gone directly towards supporting members of the UK’s fire services community with their health and wellbeing.

In that time, it’s also seen 6,541 winners walk away with life-changing prizes – totalling more than £5million.

The Charity supports serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, their dependants and other eligible members of the UK fire services community, throughout their lives, helping them to live happier and healthier.

With the support of its Lottery players, it can continue to be there for the UK’s fire family for years to come.

Reflecting on the success of the Fire Fighters Lottery over the last 20 years, the Charity’s Individual Giving Officer, Katy Parsons, said: “Seeing the difference our Lottery has made to people’s lives has been amazing. Every time you enter, you’re helping ensure we can be there for our fire family for years to come.”

Anyone can enter the special 20th Anniversary Draw and be part of the celebration by visiting www.firefighterscharity.org.uk/20Anniversary. The closing date for online entries is 28 November.

Here’s what two past winners had to say:

Norman Clinnick, 73, from Southampton, says: “I’ve been entering the Lottery for roughly 10 years. When you told me I’d won I had to get you to repeat it! I’ve got a daughter and a granddaughter who live in New Zealand and we’re now going to bring them back over here for a holiday next year to meet their half brothers and sisters.”

Emily Smith, 32, from Hertfordshire, says: “This Charity’s Lottery is something so easy you can do that does so much to help others.”

Their generosity has helped people like Sonia Cox, a Group Manager with West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service, who attended The Fire Fighters Charity’s Reset Programme following an injury – and it allowed her to focus not only on her physical recovery, but also her mental wellbeing.

The Reset Programme offers individuals in the UK’s fire services community the opportunity to develop and improve their resilience and overall mental fitness, with a programme of workshops and activities tailored to individual need.

“It gave me the chance to reset and do some work around my mental health and stress,” says Sonia. “I’ve never wanted to be seen as weak or emotional. But actually we’re all recognising that it’s okay not to be okay, it’s okay to talk and there’s fantastic support out there.”

*The £1,000 is our rollover prize, which means it rolls over each month if not won by anyone. Once it’s rolled over a total of nine times, it then becomes a guaranteed prize.
