Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service training exercise ‘Holy Smoke’

The exercise is for crew members to practice responses dealing with incidents at complex derelict buildings. The crew will be testing their Breathing Apparatus sets and Incident Command procedures, performing snatch rescues, as well as more challenging entrapment rescues.

Synthetic smoke will be used to make the training scenario as realistic as possible. This smoke may escape through doors and windows at Capul Sul and may appear like a real fire. We want to assure members of the public that there is no cause for concern if they see smoke, emergency vehicles, and personnel in the area.

Watch manager Emyr Davies said:

“It’s vital to utilise such buildings as it provides a realistic environment and opportunity to prepare our crews to effectively deal with incidents of this nature. We would like to thank Mr Lee Hipkiss director of Reflect Education for the use of the building and for his continuous support when releasing members of his staff to attend emergency calls.”
