Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service Celebrates International Control Room Week

“They are the voice of reason in the darkest moments” – Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue (MAWWFRS) is paying tribute to its Joint Fire Control Centre (JFC) Operators during International Control Room Week.

October 27th to November 2nd marks International Control Room Week, which celebrates the unsung heroes of control rooms around the world.

Our JFC Operators are the people who answer the call, literally.  When someone calls 999 in their emergency, our Fire Control Operators pick up the phone and offer the voice of reassurance during the darkest moments.

They often give lifesaving advice, manage multiple incidents at the same time, support our Firefighters and ensure that the right resources are at the right place at the right time.  Their contribution to keeping our communities safe cannot be overstated.

MAWWFRS’s Corporate Head of Emergency Response, Area Manager Siôn Slaymaker, recently visited JFC to meet the team.  Watch the video below.
