KASK, the premium designer and manufacturer of performance head protection, introduces two new Quantum accessories, advancing protection for wildland firefighting and technical
rescue. Developed as KASK’s first helmet series for wildland firefighting, technical and mountain rescue, and water operations, the Quantum range sets a benchmark for rescue and
wildland firefighting helmets, with a design shaped by the evolution of rescue and climbing helmets, advances in material technology, and the evolving challenges of technical operations
and natural disaster scenarios. To meet the demanding needs of emergency response, Quantum was developed to meet key European standards: EN 16471 (wildland firefighting),
EN 16473 (technical rescue), and EN 12492 (mountaineering). It is also compliant with EN 1385 (canoeing and white-water sports) when the Quantum protection panels are mounted.
With Quantum, KASK has addressed the unique risks faced in critical operations, including impact absorption, durability, and harsh and unpredictable environments, while also ensuring
helmet stability, comfort, and usability. The Quantum helmet embodies these objectives through an innovative fire and chemical-resistant polycarbonate external shell, a high-density
EPS internal shell with a thermoformed polystyrene cover, and an Adaptive Fit system that can be easily adjusted even with gloved hands.
As with all KASK helmets, Quantum features a number of additional design elements that enhance the wearer experience. It is designed with integrated slots for the easy mounting of
KASK eye, face, hearing, and weather protection systems, as well as the protection panels, and a front attachment point allows for advanced customization and easy integration of accessories
such as badge holders and headlamps. To support a wide range of operational needs, the Quantum Series now includes new dedicated accessories.
FR Goggles
Heat- and fire-resistant eye protection engineered to protect against smoke and debris, certified for wildland firefighting and emergency response, ensuring clear vision in extreme
conditions. The 2 mm fire-resistant polycarbonate lens delivers Optical Class 1 clarity and incorporates anti-fog and abrasion-resistant technologies for consistent performance, while
meeting EN 166 and EN 170 Category II standards. The fire-resistant frame and elastic band maintain structural integrity at elevated temperatures, and the segmented nose bridge
improves fit across different face shapes. Compatible with all KASK Quantum Series helmets.
L-5 POWER helmet torch
An ATEX Zone 0/20 certified side-mounted helmet torch suitable for use in wildland firefighting and technical rescue operations. Lightweight and durable, it mounts directly onto all KASK Quantum Series helmets using the included 360° Helmet Mount, allowing full rotational adjustment on both the left and right sides. Delivering 180 lumens, it projects a concentrated beam pattern up to 106 meters, with a runtime of up to 30 hours using 4 AAA batteries. The thermoplastic resin body offers high resistance to impacts, extreme temperatures, and corrosive substances, while the IP67 rating protects against environmental elements such as dust and water. A photoluminescent bezel improves visibility, and a rear red LED enhances wearer identification in low-light conditions.
The Quantum Series was awarded the iF Design Award 2023 for Design Excellence by the iF International Forum Design. This award further recognizes the Italian company’s commitment to developing advanced products that prioritize user needs, deliver tangible benefits, and embody exceptional design — reinforcing the brand’s motto: “Performance is a beautiful thing.”
TECHNICAL DETAILS
When designing Quantum, special consideration was given to the wide range of applications in which fire and rescue helmets are used. This opened the door to the integration of a more
performance-oriented, application-based design, and addresses the high-risk nature of emergency response. Quantum was designed drawing on KASK’s proven expertise in high performance
head protection from cycling, snow sports, equestrian and industrial safety lines. Safety is ensured by the polycarbonate (PC) external shell that allows for higher impact
resistance in a range of temperatures, higher heat and flame resistance and greater chemical resistance. The expanded polystyrene internal shell guarantees all around impact energy
absorption and improved comfort. The EPS is covered with thermoformed polystyrene for increased durability and easier cleaning and decontamination.
Exceptional wearer comfort is provided by an inner padding made of multilayer fabric with moisture-wicking technology and exceptionally soft textiles enhancing overall comfort. The
padding can be easily removed and replaced using the Click-In system.
In addition, the Adaptive Fit system adapts to head shapes to create a personalized, secure
fit. Adjusting the large diameter dial allows the ergonomic side wings to cradle the back of the neck while the self-adjusting hinge moves up and down to keep the system in a comfortable
and secure position that adapts dynamically to movement. The fire-resistant acrylic chinstrap offers five side and rear adjustment points.
Quantum is available in either a closed shell version or a Cabrio configuration with 14 vents for enhanced airflow and cooling comfort for the wearer. The vents are fitted with anti-intrusion
metal mesh covers to prevent debris from entering the ventilation channels. The Quantum Cabrio also features a sliding closure system. As with all KASK helmets, Quantum features a number of additional design elements that enhance the wearer experience. It is designed with integrated slots for the easy mounting of KASK eye, face, hearing, and weather protection systems, as well as the protection panels and the new 360° Helmet Mount to guarantee the use of the L-5 POWER helmet torch. A front attachment point allows for advanced customization and easy integration of accessories such as badge holders and headlamps.
The Quantum Series complies with EN 16471 (wildland firefighting) and EN 16473 (technical rescue), and with EN 1385 (canoeing and white-water sports) when protection panels are mounted. The Quantum Cabrio also complies with EN 12492 (mountaineering).
Since 2019 every KASK helmet is tested for rotational impact performance (KASK rotational impact WG11 test)
