The directors of FIRE magazine are sad to announce the departure of its Editor Andrew Ledgerton-Lynch OBE for pastures new
Andrew joined FIRE magazine in 1998 as Assistant Editor, becoming Editor in 2000. He has been Editor of International Fire Professional – the journal of the Institution of Fire Engineers – since 2012; and led and hosted the Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards since 2014, and the Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards in May of this year.
Andrew has said: “It is with some sadness that I move on from the magazine, having spent such a large period of my life involved with this renowned journal. I hope I’ve contributed in some small way to helping move the fire sector forward through striving to inform, engage and inspire personnel, and know that colleagues will continue to challenge, support and propel the sector forwards. I could not leave the magazine in better hands than with Andrew Chilvers, who is an outstanding journalist with a passion and dedication to the craft that is second to none.
“I have gained an enormous amount from my time on the magazine and owe a huge debt of gratitude for the friendships and great opportunities it has given me in life. Although I’m moving on to fresh challenges, I will not be going far as I join the Fire Industry Association to continue on the journey of improvement for fire safety.”
Christine Hicks, Director of Fire Knowledge, comments: “It is almost impossible to measure the huge impact Andrew has had on the fire sector. He has been the face of FIRE magazine but also a colleague who has helped us develop webinars, podcasts and awards for the sector. We thank him for his work and support over the years; he will be missed, and we send him all best wishes in his new role.”
FIRE magazine is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Chilvers as its new Editor
Andrew has been an integral part of FIRE magazine for the past 15 years, working as an editor, writer, and proofreader. With his deep knowledge of the publication and its readership, he is perfectly placed to step into the editor role and continue driving the magazine’s reputation for excellence.
In addition to his editorial expertise, Andrew brings many years of professional experience in digital publishing, with particular strengths in websites and social media. His broad skillset will help ensure FIRE magazine continues to engage readers across both print and digital platforms.
“I’m honoured to be taking on the role of Editor,” Andrew said. “Having worked with FIRE for so many years, I’m excited to build on its strong foundation and to work closely with the team, contributors, and everyone across the fire sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of the magazine and strengthen its role within the industry.”
Andrew will also be working closely with outgoing Editor Andrew Ledgerton-Lynch to ensure a smooth transition and continuity for the magazine’s readers and partners: “I’ve known Andrew now for more years than I care to mention and have a very good working relationship with him. He’s not leaving the fire sector, so I’m sure our paths with cross regularly.”
FIRE magazine looks forward to entering this new chapter under Andrew’s editorial leadership, continuing to provide trusted, authoritative content to the fire and emergency services community.
