Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will soon be launching a new Wholetime Firefighter recruitment campaign.
This will be your chance to be part of a Service that makes a positive difference to local communities. When you are not fighting fires and rescuing people from difficult situations, you will be offering fire safety and prevention advice for homes, business and schools.
We are looking for applicants from a wide range of backgrounds who are aged 18 or over to help us to provide a high-quality service.
Joining the fire service opens up a huge range of opportunities, whether it be personal, academic or professional.
As well as fighting fires, a modern-day firefighter will be involved in fire safety and training as well as having the opportunity to progress to middle and senior management. After working initially as a firefighter on a fire station, you might then progress to work in fire safety, in fire prevention, in training other firefighters or in our other corporate or operational support roles.
“While we want good firefighters, we also want to recruit people who might want to progress to have my job in the next 10, 20 or 30 years,” said Chief Fire Officer Jon Pryce KFSM.
The window for applications will be open from 17 July to 4 August and applications are particularly welcomed from people with diverse backgrounds.
“We want the best people from every walk of life across our communities to consider coming to work for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service,” said CFO Pryce KFSM.
“We don’t expect super-humans or people with Masters Degrees – we will train you and give you the help and guidance you need. With a little help and effort, most people can become a firefighter.”
