“We jumped at the chance to show support”.

Headline sponsor Frequentis tells FIRE magazine why they were so keen to support the inaugural Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards.

The Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards will take place at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, on October 4 and is supported by headline sponsor Frequentis and the Institute of Search and Technical Rescue.

The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of search and rescue teams, volunteers, organisations and suppliers who work so tirelessly to ensure they can respond in someone’s moment of need. The event celebrates those from around the world who have shown unstinting dedication to the search and rescue community and for teams and individuals who have really made a difference.

David King, Head of Sales, Frequentis UK, says: “Frequentis specialise in providing critical communications solutions to support the activities of police, fire, ambulance, maritime and defence organisations around the world. These organisations are synonymous with search and rescue, and therefore when there was an opportunity to sponsor the Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards, we jumped at the chance to show support and recognition for the people and organisations that undertake these extremely important activities, often as volunteers.”

“From our own experience, we know that the activities of search and technical rescue are often undertaken through a selfless devotion to duty,” says David O’Neill MBE, Director of Operations for the Institute of Search and Technical Rescue. “Those choosing to work or volunteer in these activities do so for the good of others and rarely seek recognition for their actions. Therefore holding an event that recognises the outstanding contribution of individuals, teams and organisations, who often risk their own lives and comforts for the good of others is invaluable and one in which we are delighted to be a partner.”

“I am delighted to introduce the first International Search & Rescue Excellence Awards which I am sure will be an exciting and memorable celebration of fire and rescue personnel and supporters from around the world,” says FIRE Editor Andrew Ledgerton-Lynch OBE.

“From our experience of the Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards – this year celebrating its tenth edition – we

know that shining a spotlight on personnel is the best way to recognise everyday unsung heroes, share best practice and promote innovation and collaboration.”

With categories covering everything from technical, heavy, and search and rescue to trauma care, innovation, training provider and lifetime achievement, the inaugural Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards are an opportunity not to be missed.
