Functional shoe and clothing specialist HAIX launches the world’s first fire boot featuring GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® EXTRAGUARD technology. The new FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG builds on the popular lightweight fire boot, now deploying this new GORE-TEX material.
The EXTRAGUARD upper material in the FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG is lighter than leather, quicker to dry after use in wet environments, and protects against commonly used chemicals, viruses and blood. Whether dealing with floods, prolonged firefighting operations or following a traffic collision on a rainy day, firefighters regularly contend with challenging environments and this places special demands on their personal protective equipment.
The three-layer EXTRAGUARD uppers are particularly robust and abrasion-resistant, lighter than conventional leather and absorb almost no moisture. As a result, they stay lightweight even after extended deployments in wet environments, keeping firefighters’ feet warm and dry. The uppers combine with the waterproof, breathable, bacteria-proof and virus-proof GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® lining inside the boot.
The FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG provides members of the emergency services with reliable protection against heat and flames, complies with DIN EN15090:2012 and meets the F2A requirement. These fire boots are easy to clean under running water and, unlike leather boots, do not require specialist care products. The sporty fit of the FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG also delivers added comfort for firefighters.
As part of its all-round protection, the FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG features a toe cap made from fibre-reinforced plastic alongside anti-perforation protection and an anti-slip, heat-resistant sole. A pocket provides space for an RFID chip for digital PPE management. The yellow instep protector has a smooth surface without any openings to ensure easy cleaning and protects the laces from damage. Special brightly coloured inserts ensure high visibility, even in thick smoke.
Simon Ash said: “We’re proud to introduce the world’s first fire boot made with the groundbreaking Extraguard material. Not only is it lighter than anything currently on the market, but its fully waterproof construction enhances performance in the toughest conditions. Building on the success of our popular FIRE EAGLE range, this new boot is designed to give firefighters the confidence, comfort, and protection they need to carry out their work safely and effectively.”
The new FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG is available in sizes UK 3 to 12 and large sizes UK 13 to 15. The FIRE EAGLE 2.0 EXG is now available in the HAIX online shop and from specialist retailers.
